Baking the Perfect Pie

A pie is a baked dish with pastry dough covering fillings that are usually sweet and savory. It can come in a variety of sizes but it's usually round. The first pies appeared around 9500 BC, in the Egyptian Neolithic period or New Stone Age, when the use of stone tools shaped by polishing or grinding became common, the domestication of plants and animals, the establishment of permanent villages, and the practice of crafts such as pottery and weaving. Early pies were known as galettes, wrapping honey as a treat inside a cover of ground oats, wheat, rye or barley.

Subsequently, from Egypt the pie spread to Ancient Greek, then to Roman and then throughout Europe.

The Apple Crumble Pie is very popular. You often see it sold in supermarkets and farmer's markets. The video embedded below provides instructions on how to make an Apple Crumble Pie yourself.
